Google Adsense: Know the Terms and Conditions, Don’t get Banned!
If you are going to be using Adsense it is important to know a couple key points in their terms and conditions so you dont make them angry and get yourself banned. And if you’re like me, you don’t read the terms and conditions when you sign up for most things, which is why im writing this.
I can think of all kinds of ways to make more money with adsense, heres a short list.
Click the ads on my site myself.
Make program that just keeps refreshing my site so i get money from the ads that pay per impression.
Get my friends to click 20 ads a day on my site
Have a contest/event where if i make 50 dollars a week from adsense I’ll give away some of the money / some EntreCredits / a puppy ect
Write a post talking about how I make xxx dollars a day from adsense, trying to entice people to keep comeing back to read my posts.
The problem with all of these is that they are not allowed, and would end up in google getting pissed off and banning me.
Lets go through the list.
The first two involve me getting the money from adsense myself. It should be too hard to understand why this isnt allowed, you’re not allowed to click your own ads. Makes sense, think of how easily it could be exploited, I have 5 computers/laptops in my house, i could write a simple program to click the ads all day, run it on 5 computers and be frigging rich. So ya dont do this.
The next two involve me trying to get others to click ads. This is not allowed, you are not allowed to ‘directly or indirectly generate queries, Referral Events, or impressions of or clicks on any Ad, Link, Search Result, or Referral Button (including without limitation by clicking on “play” for any video Ad) through any automated, deceptive, fraudulent or other invalid means, including but not limited to through repeated manual clicks….’ Basically this means dont do anything remotely close to saying ‘Please click my ads’ Reasons why this makes sense it pretty similar to the ideas above.
The last idea is to talk about how much money I make. This is also not allowed. They don’t want you talking about how much you make or what percentage of visitors click your ads. Their reasons for this arent quite as transparent as the others, but with a little thought im sure you can come up with some theories.
This is only a small section of the terms and conditions. I wrote about these because these are some mistakes newcomers couple easily make and get themselves in trouble before they’ve made their first dollar.
On a closing note ill say that google is smart. Dont try to break these rules. If they sense anything suspicious im sure they take the ’shoot now and ask questions later’ approach to things.

Following the rules is always for sure the best way to make sure you do not get banned. What happens if you do get banned and have done nothing wrong? I have not, but have seen others who have.
Good question, like everyone else Google sometimes makes mistakes. If anyone feels they have been unjustly banned they should go here

I have no idea how successful innocent people are in getting their account reopened however.
Yeah, no one should want to get banned, seems like a pretty good deal, as long as we’re getting traffic!
